Do you or your family need a break from screen time and want to reconnect with nature?
Please join us for an immersive farm tour outdoor walking experience to be a part of the local food movement and see how solutions to climate change, such as organic farming, and solutions to help homelessness are in our backyard just a couple blocks from the ocean. The tastes, sights, and sounds of the farm are enough to inspire anyone who has a hunger for helping the natural environment and humanity. This tour is great for everyone from seasoned gardeners to kids who want to learn where food comes from. Plus, our chickens and ducks always enjoy visitors.
Tour participants will gain an understanding of climate friendly agriculture practices, the first Community Supported Agriculture farm in Santa Cruz, as well as employment and community-building programs. The tour is available once a month, making it accessible to everyone. Admission costs $30 per person, which includes a pint of strawberries or tomatoes and a gardener soap to take home as a souvenir. Children under 10 can attend for free with a paid adult.
Our knowledgeable staff will guide you on a captivating 1 ½ hour journey through the Homeless Garden Project's Natural Bridges Farm. Learn about the Homeless Garden Project’s sustainable agriculture practices and their social enterprises. The Homeless Garden Project’s workforce development and support services programs for people experiencing homelessness have an impressive track record–93% of program graduates obtain jobs and 84% obtain housing within 3 months of leaving the program.
Following the tour please feel free to stay and also enjoy one of the premier bird watching locations in the area where rare species are spotted year round.
