Take a breath of fresh spring air as you munch on this fragrant confection. This lovely medley of our farm’s handpicked lavender and fresh ingredients are sure to please your favorite cookie-lover!
Ingredients: Organic unbleached flour, Organic sugar, Organic dried Lavender buds (from our garden) and sea salt.
Directions: Preheat oven to 325. Whisk the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Cut cold butter into pieces and cut into dry mixture using two knives or a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Do not allow the butter to soften or melt. Add vanilla and mix to a stiff dough.
Break off pieces and form into 1-inch balls. Flatten the balls slightly and place onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Makes approximately 16 1-inch cookies.
I first tasted this when volunteering at a First Friday event. The flavor is both subtle and surprising, and the shortbread texture is moist and crumbly. Yum.
